The International Society of Fistula Surgeons (ISOFS) was proudly represented at the 45th Congress of the International Society of Urology (SIU) held in Edinburgh, Scotland, from October 29 to November 1, 2025.
Focus Fistula Mozambique, in partnership with ISOFS, carried out a campaign in Nampula focused on complex fistula repairs and surgeon training. Led by ISOFS President Prof. Igor Vaz, with trainers Dr. Sunday Lengman and Dr. Michael Breen, 42 women received life-changing surgeries while local surgical capacity was strengthened.

We are delighted to send out the second announcement for the 2024 ISOFS conference in Dhaka, Bangladesh. As most of you surely have heard, Bangladesh has just gone through a difficult time. After several weeks of protests in July the government resigned at the beginning of August. In the meantime, an interim government has been set up and the country is stable again. New elections are not to be expected within this year, so that we believe it will be safe and possible to host the ISOFS conference in Dhaka as planned.
ISOFS celebrated IDEOF 2024 worldwide in collaboration with scientific societies, community leaders, health decisions makers, and healthcare providers. It has been an opportunity for ISOFS to raise awareness on obstetric fistula under the theme of the year: “Breaking the cycle: Preventing fistula worldwide”.
