Dr Itengré Ouédraogo is the founder and CEO of Association Renaissance ARENA, a nonprofit organization that implements a program of holistic care for women with childbirth injuries in Burkina Faso. General surgeon by training, Itengré also holds a master’s degree in epidemiology, a master’s degree in international cooperation & humanitarian aid and has substantial training in maternal and neonatal emergency healthcare.
His fields of expertise are global surgery, development of programs related to integrated and holistic care for women with childbirth injuries (with emphasis in obstetric fistula), reproductive healthcare, operational research, project coordination, and training & capacity building.
With several years dedicated to the care of women with childbirth injuries, Dr. Itengré served as Medical Director of the Danja Fistula Center in Niger, women health surgeon with the Mercy Ships in various countries, and as consultant fistula surgeon for the Worldwide Fistula Fund, and the Fistula Foundation.
Dr. Itengré is currently a FIGO accredited trainer in obstetric fistula surgery, an associate member of the FIGO committee on obstetric fistula, and the Executive Secretary of the International Society of Obstetric Fistula Surgeons (ISOFS).
