Surgical Campaign in Nampula: Advancing Fistula Repair and Training

Focus Fistula Mozambique, in collaboration with ISOFS, successfully conducted a specialized campaign in the Nampula region dedicated to the repair of complex obstetric fistulas and the training of surgeons.

Under the leadership of ISOFS President, Prof. Igor Vaz, and with the expertise of certified trainers Dr. Sunday Lengman and Dr. Michael Breen, a total of 42 women received life-restoring surgeries during this initiative.

Beyond surgical care, the campaign served as a platform to strengthen local surgical capacity, equipping healthcare professionals with advanced skills to address complex cases and ensure sustainable impact.

This effort reflects ISOFS’ mission to eliminate obstetric fistula through treatment, training, and knowledge exchange, restoring dignity and hope to affected women while building stronger health systems.
