Dr. Iqbal Mohammed Naji is ISOFS Representative for Middle East. She is one of 4 fistula surgeon providing care in 2 fistula centers in Yemen. Despite facing challenges such as limited surgical capacity and equipment, delayed referral of complex cases, insufficient follow-up mechanisms in remote areas, social stigma and lack of awareness in some communities…etc, they have provided life-changing surgeries to 75 from January to October 2025. Dr. Iqbal is also actively training other surgeons and the postgraduate student Arab. Board specialization in OB/GYN specialty.
For Dr. Iqbal, the Fistula Center continues to play a vital role in restoring the health and dignity of women affected by obstetric fistula. Despite challenges, significant progress has been made in surgical outcomes, training, and community awareness. Continued collaboration with partners and stakeholders is essential to achieve the goal of eliminating fistula as a public health issue.
